Barbeque Tables Letter

Dear Ms Beaumont
It has come to our class’s attention that our eating area is very unenjoyable. This area is either very uncomfortable on the ground or very hard to socialise on the benches. Room 12B and room 11 got the idea to get some barbeque tables for Sheppard house.

At lunch and interval eating children are getting dirty shorts or dresses also eating on the ground is very unhygienic. The benches are almost impossible to socialise on if someone three spaces away is asking you a question (don’t know how they would) you would actually have to get off your seat to answer them.

Now I know what you’re thinking yeah ok but how are we going to get the money? FUNDRAISE. We don’t even have to take money out of the school we could do things like a car wash, some form of cooking fundraising or we could even do our own sort of william pike challenge (maybe service points could be earned). The possibilities are endless … sort of.

If we get any spare money, that can go towards some things the school has been needing like maybe, new P.E gear or a better, nicer to fall over onto, field. From being a class councillor I have heard people begging for re-painted lines on the netball courts, we could do something about that.

Now do you see that this has to happen. All of Sheppard house would be very appreciative if you took this idea into consideration.

Magnetism - Science tech

Our focus this week in science tech is MAGNETS!!! Magnetism is a very powerful force that can even go through objects. There are 2 different sides to a magnet there is the north and south opposites attract (N+S/S+N) and the same repels (N+N/S+S). Did you know that if you put a magnet on a credit card it messes up the information on it. There are magnets everywhere!

Rube Goldberg

In class we had to make a rube goldberg machine.  We used a tube, a hockey ball, some dominos, book's, marbles, beans, pineapple lumps, a desk, a chair and a golf ball. We all had to work together and problem solve because we couldn't get it straight away but with everyone's ideas contributed we managed to complete the task. It took us about 17 goes to get our one to work. But we persisted though and we eventually got it done, and it was quite good. Although there were pineapple on the line we had to contain ourselves and wait until our machine was successful.
